Youth

We welcome children and young people!

Join us to grow spiritually through Sunday School and other youth activities.

Sunday School

In many churches, “Sunday School” means classes for young children, with a separate youth group for teenagers. Christian Science Sunday School works differently: it’s the umbrella term for our entire youth program, from our youngest students all the way through age 20. There’s no separate “youth group” to graduate into and no gap to bridge — just one program that grows with each student. In each class, students explore the Bible and the teachings of Christian Science together, in a nurturing environment built for their age and stage.

Who Can Attend?

Any student up to age 20 is welcome in our Sunday School, whether they grew up in Christian Science or have never heard of it before. You don’t need to be a member of our church, and your family doesn’t need any background in Christian Science to walk through the door — Sunday School is simply a warm, welcoming place for young people to grow spiritually, ask questions, and belong.

When?

Sunday School meets every Sunday at 10:00 AM, alongside the main church service. Sunday School belongs to the students — the classroom is reserved for teachers and pupils, so parents are free to attend the service while their children are in class. Some students are also able to join their class remotely — contact us to find out what’s possible for your family.

What to Expect

Teaching is matched to each student’s age and understanding. The youngest students begin with the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s Prayer and its spiritual interpretation, and the Sermon on the Mount. From there, students move on to age-appropriate lessons drawn from the same weekly Bible Lesson studied in our Sunday service, along with the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Along the way, students:

  • Learn about Christian Science healing
  • Share experiences and pray together
  • Develop their own spiritual understanding
  • Build friendships with other young people

Class Structure

Students are grouped into classes by age, so lessons and discussion fit where each group is developmentally.

Camperships

Cost should never keep a family from summer camp. We don’t have a formal application process — if you’d like help affording camp, just reach out to our Sunday School superintendent or contact us directly to talk about financial aid.

Families can also apply to the Campership Fund, an independent nonprofit dedicated to helping Christian Scientists of all ages attend camp regardless of financial circumstance.
